Baby, It’s HOT Outside: Top Five Exterior Products and Trends for 2023

March 2023 MontageSpring is upon us! As we start thinking ahead to impending warmer times, this month we wrap up our two-part series on new products and hot trends for 2023 with five new innovations and options for the exterior of your home.

  • Utilization of sustainable materials. A continuing trend we are seeing is the increased use of more sustainable materials - both in construction and landscaping. Xeriscaped yards covered with materials such as gravel (rather than grass), are picking up steam as they combine low-maintenance upkeep with minimal need for irrigation, which is in turn more environmentally friendly.

  • Earth-tone colors. Last month we mentioned that cabinetry colors are moving away from blues and grays. We are seeing this with exterior paint choices as well. Benjamin Moore’s colors for 2023 feature several earth-inspired tones which emit a warm and cozy look to your home that is more in touch with nature. And if you have shutters, or are thinking of installing them, choosing the right accent color can elicit increased curb appeal.

  • Stylish siding options are available, too. No longer do you have to rely on paint alone to change the look and feel of the exterior of your home. Modern looks such as vertical and narrow siding and wood-tone siding are gaining popularity. Another trend we’re seeing is the mixing and matching of different sidings. While this isn’t entirely new, we’re seeing this trend especially in more contemporary homes. Mixing and matching these varieties enable you to differentiate not only the color but also the texture from that of your neighbors’ homes.

  • Innovations in decking support. Decks are seeing some new innovations in the way of their support structures. Firms such as Fortress Decking are changing the game by offering steel deck framing in lieu of pressure-treated wood. This method is faster to erect and uses fewer support posts, opening the space beneath for entertaining or storage.

  • Decks are getting a facelift, too. Cable railing offered by companies such as Feeney Railing Systems is also a hot item. Not only do cable systems offer a sleek look in the way of stainless steel and last longer than their traditional wooden counterpart, they are now available in colors and provide a cleaner, more modern look.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and struggling to figure out where to start your exterior remodel, rest assured, that is normal. Keep in mind that you do not have to have all the answers prior to starting the remodeling process. That is the advantage that a professional and experienced design-build firm brings to the table.

So, if you are considering the possibility of remodeling a part (or all) of your home, now’s the time to start talking with a home remodeler that you trust. Kitchen Remodeling Potomac Review. We began our kitchen renovation the day after Thanksgiving – and by the new year it was clear that our contractor was a) not doing a good job and b) likely never going to finish – so we had the House to Home team step in. WOW – what a difference from Day 1! A real “sense of urgency” came over…

Home Theater Potomac Review. We hired Daniel Carrero to redo our family room that involved a new fireplace and the installation of home theatre set up. The job was finished with highest quality. Daniel also provided additional help when the need arose. He is a perfectionist and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend him.

Condo Remodeling | Arlington, VA. I hired House to Home Solutions under conditions that were far from ideal. The condo I was buying had a closing date that kept changing, all the walls needed to be repainted and all the carpet needed to be ripped up and replaced with wood flooring. Not only did the company deliver on time but the result was stunning. The…

I had used House to Home Solutions when a neighbors 100ft Oak tree well onto my house, smashing my addition. So as you can imagine working with insurance companies is the worst, despite all that Daniel was very professional and supportive in helping me work through it with them.
