Spreading joy one toy at a time! Our Toys for Tots donations are making spirits bright this holiday season.
It's a sad truth that not every child will find toys and games under their Christmas tree this year. Thankfully, initiatives like Toys for Tots exist with the sole mission of ensuring that each child experiences the joy of receiving a gift during this magical season.
Once again, House to Home Solutions partnered with the Potomac Chapter of the Porsche Club of America for the 2023 Toys for Tots toy drive. The outcome was heartwarming – we gathered more than two giant boxes of toys and a record-breaking $885 in cash donations. All these contributions will go on to brighten the holiday season for children in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
Conceived by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, Toys for Tots dates back to 1947. Interestingly, his wife Diane sparked the idea by crafting a few dolls and urging Bill to deliver them to an agency supporting needy children. In a friendly gesture, Walt Disney, a personal friend of Bill, designed the inaugural Toys for Tots poster, featuring a charming miniature three-car train that eventually became the iconic Toys for Tots logo. Today, the Marine Toys for Tots Program annually distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million children.
