A brisk pace paired with great company warmed racers up as they raised money for So What Else.org

It was a chilly morning on Saturday, November 11 as the House to Home Solutions Team joined local runners, walkers, scooters, and skippers assembled for the second annual LaunchCARES Charity Race in King Farm in Rockville, MD. It was a morning to join together as a community to honor Veteran’s Day and raise money for charity. Participants had the option of signing up for the 10K, 5K, 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, and the Kids Trike-a-Thon.

Over 500 participants were anticipated to compete for cash prizes in the timed distance events, handed out to first through third-place winners. There was face painting, glitter tattoos, gift cards and baskets, and even an appearance from the Chick-fil-A cow. Music and the cheering crowd carried the runners through as they raced for the finish line.

House to Home Solutions laced up our running shoes and claimed the second-largest race team to sign up. We were excited to participate not only in the race but also as event sponsors. While none on our race team won the cash prizes, it was a winning day for teamwork and community and honoring one of our own. William “Bill” Holleran, who you will read about in our Tribute, was enthusiastically looking forward to joining the race on our team. Another of our team joined in his place, walking the distance he chose with his race bib. We are sure he was there with us in spirit!

Sponsored by Launch Physical Therapy and Fitness Coaching, the LaunchCARES Charity Race is a powerful demonstration of what happens when we help the less fortunate in our community. 100% of the race proceeds go to So What Else.org, a local nonprofit serving underserved families and children in DC and Maryland through after-school programs, summer camps, spring break camps, a well-stocked food and clothing pantry in Rockville, and much more. Included in the race proceeds was the Rockville Chamber of Commerce and its local initiatives.
